There are 12 campsites in Xonrupt-Longemer. We particularly recommend the Domaine de Longemer**** municipal campsite: located on the lake shore, this campsite offers direct access to a beach and water sports (pedalos, kayaking, swimming). Ideal for families or nature breaks.

Nearby, two other places are worth a visit:

  • Camping Le Haut des Bluches*** in La Bresse 15 km from Xonrupt-Longemer: a comfortable campsite near the Vosges forests, ideal for hiking and enjoying the peace and quiet of the mountains.
  • Camping Ramberchamp** in Gérardmer, 18 km from Xonrupt-Longemer: a perfect campsite for enjoying Lake Gérardmer, water sports and the Vosges landscapes.

These establishments allow you to easily enjoy the Vosges countryside while benefiting from comfort and facilities suitable for families or groups.

Lake Longemer, a glacial lake located at an altitude of 736 metres, is the main attraction of the commune.

Swimming is permitted in the lake, but it is not supervised. You can hire pedalos or non-motorised boats, or go fishing. With its well-equipped beaches, clear water and unspoilt natural setting, Lake Longemer is the ideal place to relax, enjoy a family picnic or take a dip in the heart of nature.

Hiking & nature from Xonrupt-Longemer

Xonrupt-Longemer is surrounded by forests, lakes and the peaks of the Vosges mountains, offering options for all levels:

  • Easy loops: tour of Lake Longemer or walk around Lake Retournemer, a smaller, wilder lake (~1.4 km).
  • More challenging hikes: access to Hohneck (1,363 m altitude) via the "route des crêtes" (ridge road), for a route of about 4 km from Xonrupt-Longemer.
  • Le Saut des Cuves: this small waterfall on the Vologne river is ideal for an easy outing or a family trip. Depending on the route you choose, the trail can be anywhere from 1.4 km (from the nearby car park) to around 5 km from the centre of Xonrupt-Longemer. Accessible to all, it features natural pools, granite boulders and a very photogenic setting, perfect for a refreshing break in the heart of nature.
  • Nature/botany break: the Haut Chitelet alpine garden, located about 10 km from the centre of Xonrupt-Longemer, has a rich collection of mountain plants and offers magnificent views. It is an excellent stop for a quiet walk and a look at the flora of the Vosges.

Hiking around Xonrupt-Longemer allows you to walk, breathe fresh air, admire exceptional panoramic views and discover the local flora.

There are numerous marked trails for mountain biking or walking, suitable for families and sports enthusiasts alike.

Although Xonrupt-Longemer is best known for its natural beauty, the town also offers a few historical sites and places of interest:

  • Pont des Fées: a small historic bridge over the Vologne river.
  • Roche du Diable: a natural attraction with historical features dating back to the 19th century.
  • Chapelle Saint-Florent: a charming chapel in the heart of the town.

These places add a cultural dimension to a nature visit and are a pleasant addition to your stay.

Xonrupt-Longemer is a camping destination open all year round. In winter, the village attracts lovers of snow and snowy landscapes thanks to its three winter caravan campsites, specially equipped to welcome holidaymakers with motorhomes, caravans or heated chalets. Just a stone's throw from the cross-country ski trails and ski areas of Gérardmer and La Bresse, these establishments offer guests the chance to enjoy a nature-filled holiday, with snowshoeing, downhill skiing and cosy evenings in the heart of the Vosges.
